- Review the acute management of severe thrombocytopenia, including immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and the use of corticosteroids, IVIG, and emergency platelet transfusions.
- Discuss the role of splenectomy and newer therapeutic agents in refractory ITP cases.
- Review the acute management of severe anemias, including hemolytic anemias such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemias, and hereditary anemias such as Sickle cell anemia.
